Inclusion Pairs Satisfying Eshelby's Uniformity Property

چکیده
Eshelby conjectured that if for a given uniform loading the field inside an inclusion is uniform, then the inclusion must be an ellipse or an ellipsoid. This conjecture has been proved to be true in two and three dimensions provided that the inclusion is simply connected. In this paper we provide an alternative proof of Cherepanov’s result that an inclusion with two components can be constructed inside which the field is uniform for any given uniform loading for two-dimensional conductivity or for anti-plane elasticity. For planar elasticity, we show that the field inside the inclusion pair is uniform for certain loadings and not for others. We also show that the polarization tensor associated with the inclusion pair lies on the lower Hashin-Shtrikman bound, and hence the conjecture of Pólya-Szegö is not true among non-simply connected inclusions. As a consequence, we construct a simply connected inclusion, which is nothing close to an ellipse, but in which the field is almost uniform.

Interfacial tension and a three-phase generalized self-consistent theory of non-dilute soft composite solids.
In the dilute limit Eshelby's inclusion theory captures the behavior of a wide range of systems and properties. However, because Eshelby's approach neglects interfacial stress, it breaks down in soft materials as the inclusion size approaches the elastocapillarity length L≡γ/E. Here, we use a three-phase generalized self-consistent method to calculate the elastic moduli of composites comprised ...

Using the finite Zak transform (FZT) periodic polyphase sequences satisfying the ideal cyclic autocorrelation property and sequence pairs satisfying the optimum cyclic cross correlation property are constructed. The Zak space correlation formula plays a major role in the design of signals having special correlation properties. Sequences defined by permutation matrices in Zak space always satisf...

متن کاملA common fixed point theorem for weakly compatible maps satisfying common property (E:A:) and implicit relation in intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces
In this paper, employing the common property ($E.A$), we prove a common fixed theorem for weakly compatible mappings via an implicit relation in Intuitionistic fuzzy metric space. Our results generalize the results of S. Kumar [S. Kumar, {it Common fixed point theorems in Intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces using property (E.A)}, J. Indian Math.
